(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 23 - Italian Golf Federation President
Franco Chimenti on Tuesday hailed Edoardo Molinari's naming as a
vice captain for the next Ryder Cup at Bethpage near New York in
2025.
Chimenti said Team Europe Captain Like Donald, who presided over
its recent crushing victory of USA in Rome, "has chosen to
restart right from the man who collaborated more than anyone in
the exploit of the Old Continent in Italy".
Edoardo and his younger brother Francesco, Italy's only major
winner with the 2018 Open, were among Donald's non-playing
deputies at the Marco Simone club at th end of September.
"This is a response to those who thought naming Italians was a
sop to us last year," said Chimenti. (ANSA).
