A 10-year-old boy who fell to his death when a well cover collapsed in Sicily Thursday asked for help and talked to his parents before dying, a witness who lives next to the farm where the boy was on a trip told Italian TV Friday.
"The child after falling into the well talked to his mother and father, they called him and he asked for help", the man told Tgr Sicilia after the tragedy at Palazzolo Acreide near Siracusa.
The autopsy will probably take place as early as tomorrow.
As a due act, entries will be made in the register of suspects.
A spotlight is being shone on the owner of the land and the workers assigned to watch over the boy and other children who were playing with him.
Among the workers is a 54-year-old woman who, when the alarm was raised, went down into the well to try to save the child.
