The Paraguayan news agency IP and
ANSA signed a collaboration agreement Wednesday that provides
for the possibility for the partners to use their respective
news and information services for editorial use and to develop
joint commercial offers to support the communication of
institutions and companies in their respective countries.
The agreement was signed via video link with the Italian Embassy
in Asuncion.
Present in the Paraguayan capital were the Minister for
Communications of Paraguay Alejandra Duarte, the Undersecretary
for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi, currently busy with a tour of
visits in Latin America, and the Italian Ambassador to Paraguay
Marcello Fondi.
In Rome, at ANSA headquarters, there were the Ambassador of
Paraguay in Italy, Maria Jose Argana Mateu, and the CEO of ANSA,
Stefano De Alessandri.
"Today is a great day for Paraguay - said the Paraguayan
minister Duarte - because we are fulfilling the mandate of our
president Santiago Pena to expand the range of communications to
the maximum of our possibilities.
"Our relationship with Italy - she added - is historic and
strategic, and aimed at improving our knowledge, exchange and
prospects, strengthening our bilateral relations and enriching
the public debate".
Duarte then recalled the presence in Paraguay of a 25%
population of Italian origin, "of which I am proud to be a
part", and expressed the desire to strengthen the ties between
the two countries.
"I am convinced that this agreement is only the beginning of an
ambitious project".
From Asuncion, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi
applauded the agreement between ANSA and IP, calling it "a
further moment of sharing relations between Italy and Paraguay"
and voicing the hope that it represents "the first building
block of a collaboration that can last over time.
"As you know - she observed - Latin America and Paraguay are
showing ever greater dynamism on the global scene and Italy
intends to be a leading interlocutor in this case too, with this
signing".
The Ambassador of Paraguay in Rome, Maria Jose Argana Mateu,
underlined how, for her country, this agreement does not
represent "just a strategic alliance between two institutions
involved in the communications sector, but a bridge that will
strengthen the ties between the two nations and expand the
opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, information and
culture.
"In an increasingly globalized and connected world, access to
reliable and complete information is fundamental.
"We are convinced that it is a stage of fruitful collaboration
that will benefit both countries".
The Italian ambassador to Asuncion, Marcello Fondi, expressed
satisfaction with the agreement reached, calling it "important
for mutual understanding between the two countries.
"My state of mind is even more positive - he said - being able
to count on the presence of Undersecretary Tripodi and I am
grateful to Minister Duarte for the great collaboration that
allowed us to reach today's signing".
Tripodi's visit to Asuncion ended with the signing of the
ANSA-IP agreement, which Fondi described as "another tool for
collaboration that will allow an exchange of information and
mutual knowledge".
For the CEO of ANSA, Stefano De Alessandri, "this partnership
will allow us to expand the coverage of events in our two
countries with the hope, indeed the certainty, of bringing them
even closer.
"We are also developing interesting technological projects and
we are available to share our best practices with our partners
and with the Paraguayan news agency IP".
