Lazio are fifth in Serie A, level on
points with third-placed Atalanta and fourth-placed Fiorentina,
after squeezing past strugglers Cagliari 2-1 at home on Monday.
The Rome side took an early lead thanks to Boulaye Dia but the
Sardinian visitors levelled at the end of the first half with a
shot by Zito Luvumbo, which took a huge deflection before going
in.
Captain Mattia Zaccagni came off the bench to score the winner
for the hosts from the penalty spot on 76 minutes.
Cagliari ended the match in nine as defender Yerry Mina was sent
off for a second yellow card and midfielder Michel Adopo also
went with him for his protests against the decision.
Like Atalanta and Fiorentina, Lazio have 22 points from 11
games, three fewer than leaders Napoli.
Champions Inter have 24 points in second place after beating
promoted Venezia 1-0 on Sunday and taking advantage of Napoli
losing 3-0 to Atalanta to cut the gap.
