An improvement in weather conditions
made it possible on Thursday to resume the search for two
mountaineers who have been missing on the Gran Sasso in the
Apennines in Abruzzo since Sunday.
A blizzard put a halt to the rescue effort on Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day.
The operations are limited, however, by the risk of avalanches,
which means rescuers are unable to search for the pair on foot
at the moment.
