Premier Giorgia Meloni has wished US
President Donald Trump well for the beginning of his second
mandate, saying the friendship between the two countries and
common values will continue to boost cooperation between Italy
and the US in a message on social media.
"Enjoy your work President Donald J. Trump for the start of your
new mandate at the helm of the United States of America.
"I am certain that the friendship between our Nations and the
values that unite us will continue to strengthen the cooperation
between Italy and the US, dealing together with global
challenges and building a future of prosperity and security for
our populations", wrote Meloni, publishing a photo on Monday
night in which she poses together with Trump.
"Italy will always be committed to consolidating the dialogue
between the United States and Europe, as the essential pillar
for the stability and growth of our communities", added the
premier.
Meloni on Monday attended Donald Trump's inauguration as
president of the United States for the second time.
The Italian premier, the only European head of government
present at the ceremony, left Washington DC at around midnight
Italian time.
