A 37-year-old irregular Moroccan
immigrant got 12 years and two months in jail Thursday for the
attempted murder of a police officer at a Milan railway station
last May.
The man, Hassine Hamis, on the evening of May 8 last year at
Lambrate station, attempted to stab police deputy inspector
Christian Di Martino to death.
The officer was saved by the intervention of his colleagues and
delicate surgical operations at the Niguarda hospital in the
Lombardy capital.
The sentence was handed down by preliminary hearing judge (GUP)
Silvia Perrucci in an abbreviated trial.
Prosecutor Maura Ripamonti had asked for 13 years and 4 months
for the defendant.
