Judicial opposition is the main foe
facing the government, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said
after Premier Giorgia Meloni and other officials were placed
under investigation for the release of alleged Libyan war
criminal General Osama Almasri.
"Over two years ago I spoke of judicial opposition, as the main
political adversary of this government," said Crosetto, a
heavyweight in Meoni's rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party.
"Today's absurd notice of investigation to the Prime Minister,
the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Justice and the
Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, two days after
the incomprehensible protest of the ANM (magistrates union) in
the courtrooms, constitutes a further act to try to poison the
political, institutional and social climate.
"My total solidarity with friends and colleagues".
