Federica Brignone said her energy was running low ahead of Tuesday's last giant slalom race of the season at Sun Valley where she will be trying to add that title to her globes in the overall and downhill categories, overtaking New Zealand''s Alice Robinson who is 20 points ahead of her.
"I arrive here with less energy but I will still try to give my best for two runs, the result will not change my season anyway," said the 34-year-old from Val d'Aosta, Italy's winningest women skier.
"My mind is completely free. It will be a race where we will have to be very active in the first part, then we will find medium slope with a section that has not been used for the fast races, I will try above all to have fun", said Brignone, who has now won two overall World Cup titles, this year and in 2020.
"To be ready for the giant I tried to recharge my batteries on the only rest day after the super-G," where she was pipped to the title by Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami.
"I have never been beaten this year in the giant when I reached the finish line, unfortunately mistakes are worth zero points and this year I went out three times (Killington, Kranjska Gora and Kronplatz, ed.)," she recalled "My mental energy was very depleted, it was a super demanding year from the point of view of general stress rather than from the physical aspect, for which I feel good".
