The 57th edition of the Vinitaly wine fair scheduled to take place on April 6-9 in Verona will host 4,000 producers and operators from 140 countries.
The event is aimed at the promotion and internationalization of wines , including new organic and biodynamic labels, as well as tourism, organizers said.
The exhibition space will include 18 pavilions with operators from Italy and abroad.
In particular, the event is aiming to attract some 30,000 national and international buyers, including from the United States.
The event's director general Adolfo Rebughini said at the presentation of the event on Thursday that 1,200 leading buyers will be in Verona this year from 71 countries, six more than last year.
"The result was not obvious given ongoing geopolitical tensions", he said.
The largest delegations from outside the EU will be from the US and Canada, followed by China, the UK, Brazil, India, Singapore, Japan and South Korea.
Among this year's novelties will be the presentation of the Vinitaly Tourism magazine with 63 Italian winemakers and national and international tour operators from the US, Spain and Germany.
The revenue of the wine sector in Italy is worth 14.5 billion euros which doubles with related industries and a direct and indirect impact of 45.2 billion euros, worth 1.1% of GDP, and a foreign commercial trade balance of 7.5 billion.
