Italy's biggest trade union federation
CGIL said the 2025 budget bill unacceptably cuts spending on
health, education, and social security, announcing a
mobilization that may culminate in a general strike.
"The next budget law will inaugurate a long season of austerity
and cuts to health, education and research, social security,
national collective labor agreements, local authorities,
investments," said the CGIL after its General Assembly.
"All this is not an inevitable prospect, but the result of a
precise political choice: that of not touching extra profits,
other profits, financial and real estate income, large assets,
and tax and contribution evasion".
