Istat's downward revision of this
year's GDP growth to 0.8% makes the likelihood of hitting the
government's target of 1% this year more difficult, Economy
Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said Tuesday.
"The recent revision of the annual quarterly estimates by Istat,
while significantly raising the level of GDP in both nominal and
real terms, have led to a mechanical downward correction of the
growth acquired for 2024 which makes it more difficult to
achieve an annual variation in real GDP of 1% for the current
year", Giorgetti told a hearing on the Strategic Budget Plan
(SBP) at the joint Budget committees of the Chamber of Deputies
and Senate.
"The new quarterly data, while having a probable impact on the
final reading of 2024, do not raise concerns for the following
years", he added.
