Italy's truckers said Tuesday they may
go on strike in another 'hot autumn' of labour unrest due to
government policies.
"The hot autumn of Italian road haulage has officially begun",
said the Unatras group, which represents almost the entire
category.
It said it calls "loudly on the Minister of Transport Matteo
Salvini to clarify what the government's real intentions are, on
the very delicate issue of excise duties on diesel fuel for
motor vehicles".
In a note, the associations reiterate their opposition "to
measures that penalize a category already burdened by
unsustainable management costs" and announce "the convening of
the executive bodies to take the consequent resolutions to
protect the sector, not excluding the proclamation of a general
stoppage of services".
