Italy's big public debt moved closer
to the three-trillion-euros mark in August, rising by 11.9
billion with respect to July to 2.9625 trillion, the Bank of
Italy said on Tuesday.
The national debt rose despite an increase in tax revenues.
The central bank said tax revenues amounted to 62.4 billion
euros in August, up by 7.4 billion, or 13.4%, on the same month
in 2023.
It added that tax revenues for the first eight months of this
year totalled 371.7 billion euros, up by 19.2 billion, or 5.5%,
on the equivalent period in 2023.
