Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero
has said that he envisages the Italian company building ships
powered with small nuclear reactors.
"Nuclear power with smaller reactors allows it to be used not
only on submarines and aircraft carriers, but also on smaller
ships such as cruisers or even frigates," Folgiero said at a
round table in Udine late on Monday.
"This innovation would make us unique in the world'.
Folgiero referred to a project called Minerva, which he said
"aims to assess the feasibility of integrating new-generation
nuclear reactors on naval ships".
