A former director at defence and
aerospace giant Leonardo has been placed under investigation in
a major Milan probe into an alleged gang of cyber spies that
hacked into police data bases to glean information and compile
dossiers on business, political and entertainment figures,
judicial sources said Monday.
The ex director of the group formerly known as Finmeccanica,
Pierfrancesco Barletta, held a 5% stake in the investigation
company, Equalize, at the centre of the probe.
He is now deputy president of Milan airport company SEA.
Police said Barletta had commissioned two dossiers from the
alleged gang, while also being himself the target of another
dossier.
Equalize is owned by Milan Fair Foundation President Enrico
Pazzali and run by former super cop Carmine Gallo, the two
alleged ringleaders of the suspected snooping gang.
