A promising skier in the Italian army
team, 20-year-old Matidle Lorenzi, was severely injured Monday
while training on a slope in Val Senales, Alto Adige.
According to preliminary reports, the young skier, a member of
the third national team, was training on the Gravard G1 slope
when she fell and violently hit her face on the icy ground.
Lorenzi, a native of Villarbasse near Turin and a member of the
women's junior team, is being treated at the San Maurizio
Hospital in Bolzano.
She won the Italian title in Alpine skiing last year and ranked
eighth at the 2023 Alpine world junior championships in Chatel,
France, among other achievements.
