Historical Red Brigades (BR) leaders
Renato Curcio and Mario Moretti were indicted Wednesday for a
1975 shootout near Alessandria in which a Carabiniere was
killed.
Curcio, 83, and Moretti, 78, are both now free having served
long terms for terror offences including the 1978 kidnapping and
murder of Christian Democrat leader Aldo Moro.
They will stand trial at Alessandria starting January 25 along
with former BR militant Lauro Azzolini for the killing of cop
Giovanni d'Alfonso.
A fourth suspect, Pierluigi Zuffada, won't face trial because
his offences have timed out.
The shootout took place at Cascina Spiotta, an isolated
farmhouse in the Monferrato area near Alessandria where the BR
had kidnapped wine scion Vittorio Vallarino Gancia.
