After three months of growth, the
number of people in employment in Italy in September decreased
by 0.3% (63,000 units), to reach 23.9 million, with the drop
affecting workers with both permanent and short-term contracts,
ISTAT said Thursday based on provisional data.
Compared to September 2023, an additional 301,000 people were in
employment, up 1.3%, with an increase in the number of workers
with a permanent contract (+331,000) and the self-employed
(+81,000) and a drop in employees with a short-term contract
(-110,000).
The employment rate dropped to 62.1% (-0.1 points) on a monthly
basis, ISTAT said.
