Italy's drought czar Nicola
Dell'Acqua on Tuesday warned that the situation of water
reservoirs in southern Italy and on the islands would be
particularly difficult this summer.
Dell'Acqua, who was appointed national drought commissioner by
the government in May 2023 to oversee work to tackle the
country's worst drought in 70 years, said he has a "pessimistic
vision".
"The South and the islands have in terms of reservoirs a
situation that is worst than last year, next summer will be
particularly hard", he noted.
