Illegal digs have found a buried
medieval church in Naples, sources said Friday.
The church, from the 11th century, is an extremely rare example,
in fact, there are very few similar examples in Italy.
The man who discovered the place of worship and who was secretly
carrying out the activities was an entrepreneur who was also
identified by the Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of
Cultural Heritage (art cops) of Naples and the Cultural Heritage
pool of the Naples Prosecutor's Office.
Police seized stolen artifacts from the businessman-cum-tomb
raider who was carrying out the digs.
