The Italian Ambassador to Ecuador, Giovanni Davoli, was received by the country's new Health Minister, Antonio Naran. The meeting, reads a note, took stock of cooperation projects in the field of health.
Italy is carrying out projects in Ecuador by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Italo-Ecuadorian Fund for Sustainable Development (Fieds), for the strengthening of the treatment and diagnostic capacity of the main provincial hospitals, through the improvement of the technological park, and for staff training and scientific cooperation between Italy and Ecuador.
The ambassador, it is reported, announced to the minister the forthcoming publication of a tender for the supply of an angiograph for the Vicente Corral hospital in Cuenca, which Davoli visited last March. Also in the city of Cuenca, Italy will build and equip a specialised health centre "Italy's support for Ecuador at a time when the country is facing the threat of transnational organised crime also comes through support for the provision of essential services to the population, such as health. The fight against mafias is also won by demonstrating to the population that the State is there for its citizens in their basic needs,' Davoli said. Minister Naran, the note concluded, thanked the ambassador for Italy's excellent cooperation and support.
