The Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalisation of Italian enterprises (ITA) presented today at the Villaggio Italia the extraordinary 'Multi-Annual World Touring Exhibition'. This event brings together 'national teams' of Italian excellence during the stops of the prestigious Amerigo Vespucci, the Navy's training ship that is completing the round-the-world voyage that began in July 2023 from the port of Genoa. Vespucci's presence in Singapore highlights the growing collaboration between Italy and Singapore, dedicated to creating a new global FinTech hub.
The Demo Day of the Global Startup Program began with a speech by Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy. "A strong partnership between Italy and Singapore is crucial to put our FinTech startups on the global map," commented Valentini.
Following this, six Italian FinTech startups presented their innovative solutions, proof of Italy's impact in the financial technology sector. The six selected FinTech startups, working in the fields of payments, management platforms, financial applications, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and digital assets, will participate in courses on how to raise funds and the FinTech market in Asia. They will also receive customised support and coaching from Tenity, a Singapore-based pre-seed investor that supports innovative start-ups through mentorship programmes, coaching and networking through one-on-one meetings with investors, and participation in networking events and meetings with leading industry figures such as Bank Julius Baer and Aspire."
Giorgio Calveri, director of the Italian Trade Agency Singapore, said, "We are immensely proud of the talent and innovation coming from Italy." This event has already seen the participation of 22 start-ups, some of which have already signed important business deals.
Italy's Ambassador to Singapore, Dante Brandi, emphasised the strategic value of the partnership: "With exports from Italy to ASEAN totalling €9.6 billion in 2023, we are reaching new heights." This synergistic and innovative approach continues to reaffirm the commitment to promote FinTech innovation between the two countries, with an MoU signed between the Singapore Fintech Association and the Italian Fintech & Insurtech Association (AssoFintech) for further development.
