The number of cancer research centres
in Italy is on the rise but funds are lacking, according to the
second edition of the Italian cancer research centre annual.
The number of oncological research labs has risen from 149 in
2022 to 183 in 2023, a rise of 23%, the annual report said.
More than 600 experimental studies were carried out in 2022, the
report said.
"But there is a funding emergency and a chronic lack of staff,"
the annual said.
"We are especially lacking necessary and high-specialization
figures like data managers and biostatisticians".
