Italy, Germany, and Austria have
joined forces on the construction of the Southern Hydrogen
Corridor, energy ministers said on the sidelines of an EU
ministerial meeting Thursday.
The three countries have signed a declaration of intent pledging
to realise the so-called SoutH 2 Corridor, an over 3,000 km
hydrogen pipeline linking North Africa, where the majority of
green hydrogen will be produced, first to Italy and then into
Germany and Austria.
The project aims to help reach the EU's target of importing 10
million tonnes of renewable hydrogen by 2020, under the
RepowerEU Plan.
