An satellite navigation receiver
designed for the journey to the Moon, LuGre, has set a new
record by tracking five navigation satellites at a distance of
331 thousand kilometers, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) said
Wednesday.
On January 17th the instrument set its first record, receiving
signals at a distance of 200 thousand kilometers, never reached
before.
The joint mission of ASI and NASA "continues to obtain
unprecedented results, confirming the feasibility of using
terrestrial GNSS constellations for navigation at a distance
close to that of the Moon", said ASI in a note.
