Lewis Hamilton took his first spin in his new Ferrari at the Fiorano test circuit wowing fans Wednesday.
Many fans of La Rossa didn't want to miss the historic day and braved the cold and fog to line the track near Modena with flags, banners and chants for the British seven-time world champion and also his new partner Charles Leclerc.
Hamilton, 40, who shares the record for F1 titles with ailing Prancing Horse legend Michael Schumacher of Germany, was not driving this season's race car, which will be unveiled in London on February 19, but he said it was still "good to get to grips with a Ferrari" ahead of the start of the world championships in Melbourne on March 16-18.
Hamilton's outing at Fiorano fell within what the sporting regulations define as TPC, an acronym for Testing of Previous Cars, i.e. tests with cars from past years.
In these circumstances, the teams can use single-seaters that are at least 2, 3 or 4 years old, in this case therefore dating back to 2021, 2022 or 2023.
