People should stop saying that
religious who care for the poor are communists, Pope Francis
said Friday.
"Please, the poor cannot be a number, cannot be a problem or
even worse, a waste. He is our brother, he is flesh of our
flesh", Francis said at the assembly of the diocese of Rome on
inequalities, in the Basilica of St. John Lateran.
"And please, let's not say that priests, nuns who work with the
poor are communists! Please, this is still said", warned the
87-year-old Argentine pontiff.
