European Commission President
Ursula von der Leyen has announced the creation of 14 thematic
working groups to ensure "coordination on topical issues, key
cross-sectoral initiatives and horizontal policies" of the new
EU executive.
Each group will have its own mandate, composition, duration and
operating methods and will be chaired by a member of the College
appointed by the President.
The German EU leader has tasked the European Commissioner for
Agriculture, Christophe Hansen of Luxembourg, with coordinating
the working group on the future EU Vision on the future of
agriculture.
The EU Commission explained in a note that the project groups
are established for an initial period of one year, which can be
renewed for the duration necessary to achieve the specific
mission for which they were created.
If new priorities emerge that require the coordination of
additional cross-cutting policy elements, new project groups
could be established to respond to these emerging needs.
