On the occasion of the 650th anniversary of Francesco Petrarch's death, the Italian Embassy in the Netherlands and the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam are promoting a conference on 30 October dedicated to the lasting influence of the great Italian poet. Opening the event 'Petrarch: tradition and translation - 650 years of poetic influence' will be the Italian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Giorgio Novello. Then Gandolfo Cascio, Assistant Professor of Italian Literature and Translation at the University of Utrecht, where he also directs the research project 'Observatory on Dante Studies', will speak about Petrarch as a European poet.
Finally, Chris Tazelaar will illustrate his work on the translation of Petrarch's works.
