The Honourable Nicola Carè, president of the Italy-Mongolia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, is on a mission to Ulaanbaatar, where he met today, accompanied by Ambassador Giovanna Piccarreta, the deputy Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament, Purevdorj Bukhchuluun; the President of the Italy-Mongolia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Greater Huraal Undraa Agvaanluvsan; the President of the Food, Agriculture and Environment Commission, Beisen Bulan; and the President of the Foreign Affairs and Security Commission, Temuulen Ganzorig.
Mr. Carè, a member of the Chamber's Defence Commission, had the opportunity to share with his interlocutors the positive growth of trade between Italy and Mongolia, which is also the result of the fruitful interactions between the Presidents of the two inter-parliamentary friendship groups (Hon. Purevdorj was the President of the Italy-Mongolia one before the elections last June, following which he was appointed Deputy Speaker of the Grand Huraal). In the meeting with Hon. Purevdorj, the mega-projects launched by the new Mongolian executive and the opportunities for collaboration that arise for Italy were evoked. Appreciation was shared for the intensification of inter-parliamentary relations and the growing tourist flows between the two countries, also following the visa waiver for Italian citizens, which contributes to strengthening the rapprochement between the two peoples. In the meeting with her counterpart, Hon. Undraa, a nuclear scientist who did a cycle of studies in Trieste at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Hon. Carè evoked the opportunities of jointly promoting collaborations in the scientific, energy, academic, cultural and educational fields. The share of female MPs in Mongolia reached 25% in the June elections, and gender equality is another key issue of common importance.
Mr. Care' also had a fruitful exchange of views with the Chairman of the Great Huraal Food, Agriculture and Environment Commission on the many opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in the areas of sustainable cashmere, agriculture, and the correlation between food and health.
With the President of the Commission for Security and Foreign Policy, possible areas of cooperation in the field of peacekeeping and Italian excellence in technology were evoked.
Further meetings are planned for tomorrow.
