Yesterday evening, the Italian Ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, hosted a concert by the European Youth Symphony Orchestra (Esyo), conducted by Maestro Igor Coretti, at the residence in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade. The performance was part of a six-stage tour entitled 'United Together, from the Balkans to Brussels' to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the orchestra's foundation. The musical programme included works by Vivaldi, Puccini, Tartini, Mozart and Weiner.
The tour is not only a musical performance, but also a 'manifesto' to promote dialogue and social inclusion. In fact, 11 young musicians from Albania, Italy, North Macedonia and Serbia are part of the orchestra. The orchestra will give a second concert tonight in Belgrade at the Serbian Army House and later perform in Brussels, also at the seat of the European Parliament.
"The younger generations must contribute to the construction of a new European identity, pluralist and inclusive, all the more so in this phase marked by new wars and new divisions," said Ambassador Gori. "As these talented youngsters show, music, with its universal language," the Ambassador added, "can be an extraordinary instrument of reconciliation even in a region like the Balkans.
