"An initiative of sports diplomacy, but above all of solidarity": with these words the Italian Ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, today inaugurated the kindergarten in the Popović district, in the municipality of Rača, together with the Mayor Branko Radosavljevic. Also present at the opening ceremony were the Director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, Maja Kremic, and the Director of Banca Intesa's PR and marketing sector, Sandra Lazarevic.
The facility - the Embassy reported in a note - was built thanks to the fundraising organised by the Embassy of Italy in Serbia in cooperation with the Djokovic Foundation and the Intesa Foundation on the occasion of the 'Match of the Heart', played on 5 October between the National Team of the Heart Actors and Singers, led by President Giovanni Cali', and the veterans of Red Star. "We wanted to dedicate the Day of Italian Sport in the World," the Ambassador continued, "to a charity activity aimed at the youngest. Thanks to donations from companies and citizens who attended the football match, we achieved an important goal: the opening of the first kindergarten in this small community, where about 40 children will be able to enrol. It is a result of which we are proud, which once again testifies to the deep ties between our two countries and Italy's commitment to contribute to Serbia's social development'.
