Expo signs memorandum of understanding
with Sea Federation The sea at Italy Pavilion with excellences
of the Blue Economy The sea is the protagonist of the Italy
Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka with the Italian excellences of the
Blue Economy. This is the objective of the memorandum of
understanding between the General Commissioner for Italy at Expo
2025 Osaka Mario Vattani and the Federazione del Mare (Sea
Federation) signed Tuesday in the presence of the Minister for
Civil Protection and Sea Policies Nello Musumeci, expected at
the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka on July 21st on the
occasion of the celebrations of the Day of the Sea in Japan. The
collaboration agreement was signed by the President of the
Federazione del Mare Mario Mattioli and the General Commissioner
for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, Mario Vattani, during the
conference "The Mediterranean in history: from Sea to Middle
Ocean" held at the Italian Institute for Historical Studies. The
event was organized by the Federazione del Mare, on the occasion
of its 30th anniversary, as part of the Naples Shipping Week.
"The great tradition linked to the Sea that unites Italy and
Japan today translates into a strong economic collaboration"
said the President of the Federazione del Mare, Mario Mattioli.
"The economy of the Sea is a strategic resource for our country,
and the participation of the Federazione del Mare in Expo 2025
Osaka represents an important opportunity to promote Italian
excellence in the key sectors of the Blue Economy, at the center
of global challenges related to innovation, sustainable growth
and the green and digital transitions. Blue economy companies
are essential to achieving these goals, demonstrating Italy's
leadership in the world. It will be an honor to accompany
Minister Musumeci to Osaka because we are convinced that it is
necessary to recognize the value of marine and maritime
activities - be it cultural, social or economic - especially in
the current phase of economic recovery where the blue economy
plays a strategic role". "Thanks to this agreement, we will
bring to Expo 2025 Osaka the excellence and high technology of
Italy linked to the Blue Economy, a strategic and qualifying
sector for updating the image of our country," explained the
General Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, Mario
Vattani. "This is an important opportunity to bring together the
best of Italian entrepreneurship linked to the sea with
international realities such as the Japanese one, with which we
share a long maritime tradition. "Our Minister for Civil
Protection and Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci, will be at the
Italy Pavilion for the Day of the Sea on July 21, 2025, with a
delegation of companies, universities and research institutes in
the maritime sector. "We will showcase the Italian cutting edge
in the sectors of underwater, underwater pipelines, submarines
for civil use, shipbuilding, cruises, recreational boating,
tourism and sports, fishing, aquaculture and underwater
agriculture." Furthermore, to strengthen the centrality of the
discussion on the marine theme, the Italy Pavilion will host the
2025 edition of the Ocean Decade Foundations Dialogue thanks to
a special partnership with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, one of
the main Japanese private foundations and a globally active
charitable force. This event, held annually under the auspices
of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, is
an initiative within the framework of the United Nations Decade
of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). Expo
2025 will be held in Osaka from 13 April to 13 October 2025
under the theme "Designing the society of the future for our
lives". Italy presents itself with a Pavilion designed by the
architect Mario Cucinella whose theme is "Art regenerates life".
