Premier Giorgia Meloni on Friday met
the head of the Italian Italian Bilateral Military Mission in
Lebanon (MIBIL) and voiced solidarity with UNIFIL after recent
alleged attacks from Israeli troops which Tel Aviv says were
accidents in its onslaught on Hezbollah militants who are
allegedly using the peacekeepers as shields.
The Italian PM with the commander of the Italian bilateral
mission in Lebanon, Colonel Matteo Vitulano, and the vice
president of the Technical-Military Committee for Lebanon,
Colonel Cortone.
The Prime Minister expressed her personal closeness and that of
the Government to the entire UNIFIL mission and all the Italian
soldiers engaged in Lebanon, Italian sources said.
Italy has over 1,000 members of the military deployed with
UNIFIL while approximately 200 others are in Beirut as part of
MIBIL..
