The European Union is celebrating
excellence in the organic sector - applications for the fourth
EU Organic Awards, which recognize key players in the organic
supply chain, are open until April 27.
There are six categories for a total of seven awards: Best
Organic Farmer (Female and Male); Best Organic Region/District;
Best Organic City; Best Organic Food Processing SME; Best
Organic Food Retailer; Best Organic Restaurant/Catering Service.
As stated in an official announcement, the winners will be
honored on September 23 in Brussels during the annual Organic
Day.
The awards are jointly organized by the European Commission, the
European Economic and Social Committee, the European Committee
of the Regions, Copa-Cogeca, and IFOAM Organics Europe, with the
European Parliament and the Council participating in the
evaluation process.
"Organic farming plays a crucial role in shaping a more
sustainable and resilient food system in the EU," stressed
Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen.
