The Pope has appointed Sister
Raffaella Petrini, until now Secretary General of the
Governorate, as President of the Pontifical Commission for
Vatican City State, as well as President of the Governorate,
effective March 1, 2025, the Vatican press office announced
Saturday.
The Pope had announced that he would make this appointment in a
recent television interview.
Last month the pope appointed the first-ever woman head of a
Vatican department when he named Sister
Simona Brambilla, until now Secretary of the same institution,
as Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life
and Societies of Apostolic Life
